The R.G.S.S. Ambassador’s Club is a student led initiative where students volunteer their time to help welcome and orient any new student to school. Students who volunteer as Ambassadors are often those who have themselves gone through the ESL program, either at elementary school or high school and due to their shared experience, serve the role with empathy and compassion. An R.G.S.S. Ambassador’s purpose is not only to welcome and orient new MLLs (Multilingual Language Learners) to Richmond Green, but also international exchange students and/or transfer students from other areas. Students become advocates for MLLs, provide tutoring support, and connect with those they have been partnered with, throughout the semester. Ambassadors also organize a variety of events, such as orientation and information sessions, cultural or “meet and greet” events. This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for Richmond Green students to learn about different cultures, meet new friends, and gain volunteer hours. Students may continue this role the following and subsequent years, should they wish to.
