High-Performance Athlete

High Performance Athlete (HPA) accommodation is an option for students competing at the provincial, national and/or international level in eligible sports. It is designed to provide high performing student-athletes with timetable support to enable them to attend their regular training and compete during times that would typically conflict with otherwise-regular academic programming.   The High Performance Athlete (HPA) program is designed to provide timetable support to student-athletes who are competing at a provincialnational, or international level in an eligible sport to enable them to attend their regular training and compete during times that would typically conflict with otherwise-regular academic programming.

Timelines: The ideal time to apply to our HPA program is before the end of January, contact Guidance for an initial appointment.

 

HPA 2026 Process:

  • Students applying to be considered as an HPA student will submit completed HPA forms and documents to the school by ___February 27th, 2026________________
  • Current HPA students will submit the HPA Renewal Application form to their school by __February 27th, 2026_______________
  • School staff will verify HPA application by ______March 6th, 2026_________
    • Sport is on the eligible sports list
    • Minimum 15 hours of training per week
    • Regular training and competitions happen during times that would typically conflict with otherwise regular academic programming
  • Students and families are informed of application status for HPA by the secondary school
  • HPA forms and documents are kept on file at the school
  • HPA students are timetabled into designated DSOL courses (subject to change pending update from Continuing Education)

Students in Grade 11 and 12 will also be able to select DSOL courses offered to all YRDSB students.
