Music Department

Unlock your musical potential and find your community in RGSS Music. The department offers a friendly and growth-focused environment for every student. Current course offerings include semestered Instrumental Band class (AMI), semestered Instrumental Strings class (AMS) and year-long Band Repertoire class (AMR). Music students have ample opportunities to learn a new instrument, hone in on their skills, collaborate with others and take on leadership roles. For a more comprehensive experience in music, students are strongly encouraged to choose both semestered class and repertoire classes.

Performances throughout the school year include but not limited to the Remembrance Day assembly, community benefit concert, Winter Concert, Spring Concert and graduation ceremony. In addition to the large ensemble performance experience, students can explore playing in a small ensemble setting and as a solo performer.

The Music Department provides exciting field trip opportunities designed to enrich students’ learning and performance experience. Students can look forward to attending professional concerts at world-class venues, offering invaluable exposure to high-caliber artistry and diverse musical genres. Students can also gain valuable insight through in-school workshops with guest conductors and composers. Additionally, depending on the ensemble, trips may include participation in music festivals and competitions.
