History Department

Hello and welcome to Richmond Green History! We are a team of experienced and enthusiastic educators who want students to leave our classes with knowledge of the past, a better understanding of the present, and skills that will take them to where they want to go. And we want to have some fun in the process!

We like to tap into a variety of sources that will provide value-added learning for our students. Our law classes visit the Ontario Superior Courts every semester to watch actual trials involving murder, assault, fraud, just to name a few. We also welcome the forensics officers from York Region Police to show us how to investigate crime scenes. Our history classes use the primary source resources from the board and are visiting a residential school this year.

We also love going places. The history department organizes a trip to Europe every year. We are going to France and Belgium this year. Any student from RGSS may go on the trip. Please check school emails for information about costs and availability. In past years, we have been to Germany, Austria, Poland, England, Italy, Czech Republic, and Greece.
