Drama Department

There are many academic and extra-curricular opportunities offered by RGSS Drama. RGSS Drama encourages all RGSS students to drop by the drama studio. During the school day, students can be found engaging in academic classes, participating in production rehearsals, getting involved with the school’s technical crew, and learning general communication skills. The drama studio is an artistic, inclusive environment where all students are welcome to drop by and play some improv!

Why Should You Take Drama In Grade Nine?

Grade Nine Drama Open (ADA 1O) is an excellent introductory course to the secondary school arts curriculum and the different opportunities offered by RGSS Drama. No experience or audition is required for introductory drama courses!!! Grade Nine Drama Open offers students the following:

  • an opportunity to earn an arts credit in an inclusive and energetic environment
  • an opportunity to build transferable skills by using drama as a technique to improve team work, communication, and problem solving skills
  • a general introduction to different dramatic techniques and theatre history, including scene work, comedy, movement pieces, playwriting, technical theatre, children’s theatre, and directing
  • an opportunity to meet students from different areas of the RGSS community
  • an active, challenging, kinesthetic, experiential, hands-on learning experience

After completion of ADA 10, students can continue to take either academic courses or production based courses until grade twelve. All senior level courses match university acceptance criteria.
